Description:

The HFR-GoM network was built of 4 CODAR Seasonde HF Radar systems. All the stations collected hourly surface currents along the coast of the Gilf of Manfredonia, in the Southern Adriatic Sea. The network was composed by 3 stations emitting at central frequency of 26.275 MHz and 1 station emitting at central frequency of 24.525 MHz, providing hourly radial current data with 1 km range resolution and radial coverage close to 40 km. The combination of radial current measurement provides hourly total current data over a regular grid with 2 km spatial resolution, over a total coverage of approximately 1,700 square km.

Operating Institution:

The HFR-GoM network has been established, developed and maintained thanks to the Italian flagship project RITMARE and SSD-Pesca project. The network has been designed, implemented and managed through the joint efforts of CNR-ISMAR Section of Lerici and the former CNR-ISMAR Section of Lesina.
