Description:
The HFR-GoS network is part of the ISMAR HF Radar Network and is built of 2 operational CODAR Seasonde HF Radar collecting hourly surface currents and waves measurements in the Gulf of Salerno. The operational network is composed by 2 stations emitting at a central frequency of 13.5 MHz, providing hourly radial current data with 1,5 km range resolution and radial coverage close to 80 km. The combination of radial current measurement provides hourly total current data over a regular grid with 2 km spatial resolution, over a total coverage of approximately 3,000 square kilometers.

The HFR-GoS network has been established within JERICO network (Joint European Research Infrastructure for Coastal Observations) and PNRR-ITINERIS project. The network has been designed, implemented and managed through the joint efforts of ISMAR S.S. Napoli and IMSAR S.S. La Spezia. Instruments are hosted at Lega Navale Italiana (HFR-GoS-SPIN) and Marina Militare (HFR-GoS-CARE).
