Description:
The HFR-LaMMA network consists of five CODAR SeaSonde HF radar systems operating at a nominal frequency of 13.5 MHz. The sites, located in Livorno, San Vincenzo, Castiglione della Pescaia, Isola del Tino, and Pianosa, collect hourly surface current measurements across the Ligurian and Northern Tyrrhenian Seas, including the Tuscan Archipelago.
Radial data are acquired with a range resolution of approximately 1.5 km, 5° angular spacing, and a typical radial coverage of 80–100 km. The combination of radial currents provides hourly total surface current fields over the upper ~0.3–2.5 m of the water column, mapped on a regular grid with kilometre scale resolution across the monitored region.
